The Major Scales

If you’ve played another instrument before the ukulele, you will know how important it is to practice your scales. Even if it’s boring. It will help you memorise the notes, get your fingers used to the fret board and general plucking skills.

The first and easiest major scale is C major. Here it is. It’s the easiest because it uses a few open strings.

Next is the C# Major, everything goes up one fret, when there were open strings, you now hit the first fret.

I’ll do one more. Here is the D Major Scale

You can move one fret at a time up the fretboard until you run out of notes. Simple.

Once you’ve mastered it ascending (going up), do it descending. I like to throw a major chord at the end. As you get better, increase the tempo, but don’t go so fast that your form is completely out.
